"The Kansas City Kansan, (Denise Graves)"
Your Diner offers food, food for Thought
In the quietly developing business area on 18th and Quindaro there is a restaurant that serves courtesy, kindness and great food.
According to United Nation of Islam National Secretary James 2X, Your Diner represents a new way of thinking that is healthy and nutritious. It's the reflection of a thinking pattern. That is evident in the food service, atmosphere, and food selection.
Your Diner now operates in a historic location that most recently boasted of Paula's and Gabriel's soul food restaurants. This unique eating establishment is renovated completely. The decor is earthy and airy. The walls are paneled with light vanilla colored wood, as are the opening door and entry way trims. The floors and ceiling are bright almost white complemented by ceiling fans. The most important fact is that when a person enters the restaurant they are kindly greeted with smiles, existence approval, pleasant music and a quiet almost southern hospitality.
The mood in this place compares to none in Kansas City, Kan. It is welcoming, fresh and inspiring.
The United Nation of Islam which is not the same entity as the Nation of Islam, has a plan to provide products and services in this area. To do this states National Secretary James 2X, we have to produce a nation that has right thinking. We do this in our mathematical classes that teach how to think according to the facts. To learn how to think we have to have a place to think. Your Diner is that kind of place. It represents a business that allows right thinking to become active. Workers put thinking into motion. It is a place to protect, inspire and develop thought. This way of righteous living is not just for Muslims, but for anyone who expresses righteousness.
Your Diner represents a phase of a development effort that includes a grocery store, bakery, housing and ethnic hair care products. Young workers, many of who look like teenagers, represent the many good children we rarely hear about. They are well groomed, excessive jewelry is absent as are make-up, baggy sagging pants, Starter jackets and other signature clothing.
The tone in which they speak is moderate and respectful. You hear things like "may I share the menu with you, yes ma'am and yes sir" and once you have placed your order they tell you thank you. There is no loud talking or music. It is pleasantly peaceful. National Secretary James 2X said parents guide us and as parents we must produce a dowry for our children. Children must have a place to practice being right.
Meals are tasty, affordable and the portions are filling. The food is wholesome. As one would guess there is no pork, red meat or chicken sold here. The menu calls for salmon pattie sausages, sandwiches and white fish. There are vegetable plates, salads and sandwiches. The vegetable plate consists of red cabbage, squash, carrots and such. There are the infamous bean and carrot pies for dessert, whole wheat buns, pancakes, homemade grits and bean soup. Since the United Nation of Islam practices healthy eating which creates weight control among its circle, it is no wonder that the workers in Your Diner look so young.
